  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
My boat is in Charleston and we are in Lexington, near Columbia. I cant get to the boat because most roads are closed with curfew in place. I am on a floating dock but the bow is tied to a pole. If the tide comes up too much the bow will be too tight. The marina boys say everything is OK but I dont trust them. Is there any one in Charleston?

Which marina? May have a contact.

Ripley light marina. Not the dry stack. I dont know any Hatteras members near there. We are near the California dreaming Restuarant. Lots of roads are closed in Charleston. Parts of I-95, 26, and 77 are closed. I-95 from Florence south to I-26 is closed. I'll try to go down there as soon as I can.

Friends over at City Marina report it is pretty miserable. I'm sure your marina is keeping an eye on lines, etc., but hard not to worry.

Pics from my parents' place at NMB show the ICW @ Barefoot at the top of the seawalls. Never seen that, even in hurricanes.

Pate,

My son lives in Lexington also. Depending on where you live and if you have problems he has opened his house. Call me at 603-491-3069 if you need anything. At least where your boat is is protected.

Stay Dry,

Russ:cool:

Driving home from wedding in NC yesterday we had to detour Interstate 95 at Florence to I20 to Columbia, then I77 to I26 and backtrack to I95 below Santee....probably 2 hours out of the way....and we still don't know exactly why they closed 70 miles of I95... news media focuses on flooding in Columbia and Charleston, just because that is where their reporters are planted, and ignores most else.

Yes there are hundreds of road closures and bridges over flowed. The big cities impact thousands of people trying to get around needing rescuing. The country people seem to have their act together more so with 4x4's, tractors, boats and deep wells for drinking water. There is no dramatic news stories out there. I grew up in South Louisiana and had to deal with flood waters every year during the Northern snow melting season. These people in SC urban areas are completely helpless and actually go looking for trouble taking pictures of flooding when they should be home.
