  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
My freshwater line to the tank seems to be blocked. Is there a valve that I should check? Otherwise, suggestions?

On my 1979 53' MY there is a spring loaded check valve between the water tank and the water pump. If you remove the supply line (suction side) to the pump at the pump from the water tank no water will flow. The water pump has to generate vacuum/suction to open the check valve.

It would help to know which boat you have. Which line are you talking about? The line from the tank to the pumo or the filler hose?

Are you talking about the fill line in the stern? Send a photolus info on your boat.

Not sure how to help without more info. IF you mean the outside water connection...could easily be the pressure regulator. If you mean the tank fill line, not much to go wrong there, depending on the boat model. If you mean, the tank to pump line, there is a one way check valve, I guess it could become occluded, but I've never seen that. If the pump runs, but no water comes out, could be loss of prime or bad impeller. If you mean line from the pump to the accumulator tank, again, not much to go wrong there. The accumulator can become water logged if the diaphragm breaks, so you'd get no water at the spigots unless the pump was running...

Thanks, I'll check this. We have a 1972 53' MY. Love this boat!

This is the line from the tank to the pump. The pump produces good suction. It must be the one way check valve.

Is this valve on the tank?

We have a 1972 53' MY Thanks for helping to figure this out.

The check valve should be near the pump but check at the other end to see if someone messed with the line. The pick up is in the lower tank under the floor in the master closet.

Ok. Thanks. Awesome. Really appreciate the info!

If you still have old cooper lines a pin hole would not let pump suck water out of tank ,but chances are that the pick up tube has rotted off in tank.

On mine, the check valve is a about 6 inches from the tank connection.

The pick up line looks good?
