Need a little help with this one. I have A valve mounted on the aft bulkhead wall. I believe it is a valve that keeps the water system from backing into the connector (Street water) in my cockpit.
Is this rebuildable or do you just replace it ?

Back flow prevention valves - if that is what it is - are required by quite a few water departments. In some communities the WD supplies them, in some you need to buy them and in that case the local plumbing stores stock approved units. Forget about rebuilding it IMHO.

Do you know if it is a single check valve or a double check valve assembly? Is it testable (test cocks) or what do you think is wrong with it?

I'm thinking it's a pressure regulator. The are used to reduce the city water pressure down to preserve the plastic plumbing on the boat. Hatteras installs them on many boats. You can google water pressure regulator or backflow preventer to see a photo and confirm this.

They are fairly cheap, about $25 I think. They get corroded and the seals dry out after time. Sam's can supply one that will fit in the bracket and holes on your boat and save you time chasing it down. It might be made in the USA too.
