  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
Our 1969 has a fairly small holding tank, can I reduce the flow to the head or will this create problems for me.

Close the seacock and gradually opening it might be a way that'd work. Shouldn't hurt the fill pump since it'll stay wet. Wonder about the waste pump gulping air viz wear, though.

Pump it overboard. Oh wait, nevermind...that's illegal! Even though the sewer plants dump millions of gallons of sewage into the rivers when it rains.

It is a fresh water head and seams to use about a gallon of water per flush it seems like that's a lot to me.

If it fills on a timer Reduce the feed water line size or add a orfice or flow control valve.

What brand/model head is it? If its a Raritan it won't work right with less water. Trust me on this!

I will look at the make of the head next time I am there.

if freshwater you can put a 1/4 turn ball valve in the fresh water inlet side and adjust the water flow accordingly...........Pat

Yes, I just don't know how much water is needed.

Water is what the crap rides on to the pump wont ride on air to the pump unless you have a Vac U Flush.

You are so subtle Bob but dead right. Lol

I get it just seems like a gallon is a lot. The water pressure on the boat is very good so I would like to turn the flow down some, but I do not want problems with the brown trout.
