  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Asking the collective but afraid I already know the answer: Our dryer has stopped porting hot air out through the vent and I need to inspect the hose connection etc. Do I have to pull the stacked unit completely out to secure access? There isn’t a hidden access bulkhead, right? Thanks All; Chuck Bullett- Chartmaker Hull #522

I had the exact same thing happen on mine two years ago.
Turned out that a bird built a nest in the dryer outlet.
After tearing the dryer apart and tracing the blockage/problem from that end all I had to do was remove the clam shell off the outside of the boat and remove the nest.

I put a large hole stainless screen on the outlet and replace the clam shell vent cover.

If you haven't already, pop off the forward setee back rest and you should be able to see in and around the vent. I don't recall if you can see the full hose run, ut enough to do initial diagnosis.

I need to replace a belt on my dryer, and that will require pulling the unit out.

Please post step by step procedures once you figure it out....I know I'm rapidly approaching that day.

Please post updates and photo’s...I need to replace the entire washer dryer unit and am curious as to how much I have to pull apart. Thanks in advance!

I did not have a unit on mine when I got it and PO used space as storage. I bulit a shelf 18" from deck and put in a Deca Washer/Dryer All in One Combo w/ or w/out vented. I went vented as drying times would be quicker. Yes bird nest & lint build up over time will decrease air out. Agree to pull clam shell off and use a shopvac. It will allow for shopvav hose to reach further inside. Atleast thats what I'll plan on doing after awhile!
Most importantly to remeber is this is a FIRE Hazard!

Thanks all. Will get into this tomorrow night after work and report back.Chuck
