Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
On my 52c and my buddies 60Eb we are both needing the female fitting that goes on the foredeck male hydraulic spud for the wash down. In my cockpit, my freshwater fitting takes the Safeway model BS 105-4 /Parker BH4 60 female fitting. However the fitting doesn't work on my "dockside water" or the foredeck male fittings. In both cases it feels that it's going to fit right but it just seems it needs a little more travel in order to lockdown and secure itself.

Seems odd they don't accept the same female fitting, anyone know the correct part number for the fore deck?

Pic is foredeck male that is not seating.

pic is my cockpit, I can get the fitting to work on the one it is currently on and the one on the left but not the one above or foredeck. My calipers show they are within a couple thousands. Is it possible the tit is frozen up and not allowing itself to be pushed back in? If so tap with a hammer and spray in some break free or disassemble and soak in white vinegar?

About once a year I soak all my QCs in phosphoric acid for a half hour. I’ll just paint some acid on the installed male fittings and that makes the QCs work as designed. Tolerances are pretty close, so very little scale can trip you up.

The female fittings can be disassembled and rebuilt. There are 1/8” ball bearings and a pair of o-rings that can be replaced. It also helps to grease them when reassembling. Mine were frozen up, but now work smoothly.

Thanks, I'll get at them today and hopefully get them sorted out.

This is the only thing I found on Sams.

That doesn't mean they don't have them. They have more parts that aren't listed than they do that are listed on the parts search. You always have to call.

Got it fixed. A few light taps with a hammer on the male nipple got it moving, some vinegar and wire brush broke up the corrosion. Attached and detached the fittings 20-30x and now we are good to go. Thanks

I've been looking at my freshwater washdown system, as well as restoring the original shore water connection system. The PO dismantled parts of it, I think. But the QC fittings are so corroded I am not interested in keeping them. I was considering replacing them with this - AmazonSmile: SHURFLO 183-029-14 Pressure Reducing City Water Entry (Wall Mount) - Chrome: Automotive
for the shore water system connection, and looking at similar discharge fittings for the washdown system. The stern washdown was converted to connect to a handheld shower head, so I will have to get very creative to make that one usable for washdowns.

Seems like junk from the reviews. Soak your originals in vinegar or phosphoric acid and apply some elbow grease. May turn out ok.
