Runnnnnnnnnnnnn!

"This is still a very good hull."

If you say so. Personally it doesn't look very good to me. For what you would spend to make this boat usable again, it would be cheaper to buy another 2004 54 convertible. Which would not have 'salvage' attached to its title.

Or a new one and still be less than fixing this one.

What a waste. I hope no one was lost in the accident.

Me too. Everything else was.

Always blaming an "abandoned rig"

What a shame. Can't imagine how the captain and or owner felt during that ordeal. Hopefully no one was seriously hurt or worse. Amazed she stayed afloat and didn't sink completely. There was a 45c that had an extensive refit with the same name from the Gulf. Wonder if it's the same owner.

Serial boat killer?

Why am I thinking the hole might be accessible from the inside and there was a potential to save it? I know I wasn't there and all but are there live wells or something in the way that would keep someone away from that breach?

It is and he is a member here. I will say this about him, he has the class not to post accusatory things about another member.

(Not speaking of you Jack)

And what would be wrong with trying to understand why it went down?

Nothing. But idle speculation and armchair captaining about what one would do in a dire emergency is something different than understanding why it went down.

And what was the idle speculation that set you off? Trying to understand the cockpit layout? A convertible I had was wide open under the hatch. The transom etc. were all accessible. I watched an owner drive his boat up on a sand bar instead of into a waiting sling on the other side of the creek. I am not saying this was a case of that sort. I am asking if the boat could have been saved by stuffing rags into the opening etc..

Bolded.

You may also want to consider that perhaps the owner was more concerned with the safety of his crew rather than figuring out how to stuff some rags into a hole down in the bilge that may or may not have been accessible and may or may have not kept the vessel from sinking.

And you accept this one? As if to say the owner knocked off a couple of fine boats?

No, I didn't like that one either. That post was half the reason I made my initial post.

Read a bit more, it's more like 1/3. We can learn from crap like this.

I know people that think they can fix a leak of this sort with Flex Tape. And you know something, maybe it could have worked in this case. There are people that carry things like this for a reason and maybe it's something to add to the list.

Well they did come out with a new MacGyver TV series....

Now that's just wrong krush.

Not the comment as it was as funny as mine.

Reviving McGiver is just wrong.

And by the way if someone can't get a laugh out of some of the comments they probably need to get over themself and start enjoying life.

My comment was in jest. I did not accuse the owner of doing it on purpose and I did previously post my concern for those on board.

The title and most of the replys we're in good humor.

I got over myself a long time ago and taking care of my father who is dying of colon cancer sort of interferes with enjoying life. Maybe I'm a little bit touchy these days, but I didn't find your post funny.

I had a boat wrecked in 1998 that was in rack storage and if I happened on a thread about it cracking jokes and accusing me of doing it on purpose I don't think I would have been amused.
