  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
63' MOTOR YACHT (1985 - 1987)
I'm going to install my 3rd Jabsco 3 inch, flange mount DC blower for my generator room. The 1st one died shortly after I got the boat, and I got about 3 years out of the second one, and I think it should have lasted much longer..but whatever. This time I'm installing a 12v unit with a waterproof voltage converter. Does anybody have any experience with one of there?

What's the working amperage of the blower. Ive used many of the victon converters but its a size question.

The blower is 6.5 amps at 12v. The converter says its up to 10 amps and up to 36v input. Unless I can find somebody young and skinny, it will be my last time replacing the blower...it's down the tunnel under the lower level dinette table.

I have just bought six voltage converters of different amperage and have two installed already. The last installed was from MarineBeam and a 20amp model. It is working flawlessly with the new Jabsco 6amp 12 volt blower in port engine room. (You do need to co-join two wires when installing)

Another type I purchased is similar to Dottieshusband and was purchased online at Alibaba.com but is a 20 amp version. I have not installed one of these yet but plan to have it go down the same tunnel as Dottieshusband for the genset blower. Here is the link...

The issue for longevity is to get airflow over them to cool the heatsink, especially if its in the engine room. I have installed a 12 volt continuous running computer fan over the Newmar 32-12 volt converter and this seems to work ok.

NAV LIGHTS: Could someone please tell me how/where I connect my Alibaba converter so as to change all my Nav lights to 12 volt LEDs. (1985 61MY) Is the place to do this the CB Board behind the wheelhouse seat? Does the Circuit Breaker also have the corresponding ground (negative) for this light circuit?

Thanks

I used a Marinebeam 10 amp converter on the navlight circuit in the bottom of the DC breaker box. It's small enough to fit in the bottom of the box. Just splice it into the line after that breaker. Works great!

I used 3 more in the heads to convert the overhead lights to 12v. Installed them right next to the switches.

Thanks. Is the ground wire circuit direct to the nav lights also located there?

According to marinebeam website, they are suggesting not to use a strict 32 to 12 volt converter but rather use the 16-48 to 12 volt converter as the voltage would be around 36-38 v on charger. Would you please tell me which one from the Ali express.com site did you use? 32 to 12? Thanks

Here's some options I'm going to use to run a 12v DC furnace fan on my RV.

First two are PWM, for changing speed (but will still do the same thing)

The second two are voltage converters. I think they work on the same princeple, but they just have a higher switching frequency so it's more "pure"
