Hi Guys,
I've slummed enough in these threads to have an idea of what finishes old Hatts came with, and how many have chosen to refinish them over the years.
Tung oil, Teak oil, and oodles of various varnishes come to mind. Not to mention the usual water damage finishes ranging from paint to wallpaper. Among these, would this dark stain look like it was done to mask water damage?
Or is this what tung oil looks like after forty some years of incrusted dirt?
