VF are easy to troubleshoot but like anythign, go step by step.
first, is the pump running ?
if not it could be...
- something (too much TP) stuck at the bottom of the the head,. in the ventury, clearly visible when you hold the pedal down... that means the vacuum isnt' broken and the pump doens't turn on. A wire as suggest may help although if you push something down, it might get stuck further down the line...
-circuit breaker, check for power at the pump.
- vac switch. if you have a separate cylindrical vac tank, the switch is at one end. they cannot be adjusted, but you can try pulling the spring out to see if the pump starts.
if the pump is running, having no vacum (including haivng water draining down slowly) is usually caused by something cloggin one of the duck bill valves.
where to look depend on your system. do you have a separate vac tank and pump or one the compact all in one unit ?
usually the duckbills will be at the pump inlet and outlet and stuff usually gets stuck a the unlet. it's easy to unscrew and clear but just be ready for "things" to leak when you open it up.
if you have a single pump for 2 heads, you will also have a duck bill valve, inline, between each vac tank and the pump. if you have enough slack in the hose, shaking the valve/hose often clears the clog.
if your valves are over 4 or 5 years, you may want to replace them when you open them up, they're cheap.. older valves often start causing issues which gets worst with time.
another thing to try to clear a clog, is a plunger. I know some people say that it's a big no no as it could damage/reverse the duck bills, it's never happened to me and a plunger as saved me from opening the duck bills for minor problems.
over all, VF are trouble free and very forgiving... i use regular TP on the boat and rarely have any issues in any of the 3 heads.
