Well this boat is in graet shape , after removing six contractor size bags of trash , the bilges were a mess , 3 wal mart size bags of debris ect, just the stuff that stops up a bilde pump used zip ties ect.
Mrs. G spent three days clening up & wipeing down the entire interior. The Boat now looks great. replaced the matteress and the funky smell went way.
The DD's were neglected. I haven't fired them yet. After all the reserch I did on this site , it was pretty simple to see the heat exchanger had a leak , I was leaking for quiet some time. ( had a pile of salt under the leak )
The removal of the HE is not for the faint hearted, It took a act of genious to figure out how to get at the damm bolts. Wow. I did attempt to remove the bolts , but after the second head snaped the plan changed, one bolt was 50% gone from that little drip. The pile of salt ws five inches high. I believe the motor hatches were only opend to make sure the DD'S were still in place. If the boat started no need to open those.
I finished the bottom job. I went with the micron extra / The bottom was in good shape it could have went a year or two , but with all the neglect I figured It was a great place to start. Bottom UP.
I'm not looking foward to putting the heat exchanger back on , it's like handling six cinder blocks in one little package. It bit me 10 time getting it off.
We are now on the better side of getting ready. I have had a good time with the challange. I am glad this site was here , I found much info here.
Thanks for posting .
