Hi
Thanks to all on the advice.
Had the crankcase pressure checked on port eng and it was good (1/8 inch water pressure). The dipstick was popping out due to having a very loose cap on the stick, yep, should have worked that one out! Mechanics opinion on the engines = PERFECT!
For all those who had a laugh when I needed help for changing oil on the DD's, checking crankcase pressure & breathers, coolant etc., well, never did it before so it was a bit to learn. Had to set up a new 12v pump to get the oil out, only found out when I needed it that although all the hydraulic lines were installed there was NO pump installed.
The smoke was due to light oil (multi-grade) since changing it to staight 40W she runs GREAT!
So all's good.
To rsmith and others, you were right about how to run the engines, HARD and forget the tenderness. Was told by the mechanic that much of the smoke and the few other issues was due to the long 12 knot trip (400nm) from Newcastle, plus all the trolling. So now I will be going full throttle for 10 mins, then cruise speed on the way to the fish and on the way home.
Keep well all. Been enjoyable to do some new stuff.
