A Twin Disc MG511 [or maybe MG5111] transmission oil analysis shows a level of ALUMINUM and CADMIUM "to be monitored...."abnormal" with unknown hours run time.
Report includes:
" Suggest monitoring the gauges, vital signs, fault codes and fluid level closely between samples. Aluminum is at a SIGNIFICANT LEVEL; ALUMINUM source in GEAR SYSTEMS may be BUSHING/THRUST metal, ALUMINA SILICA (Dirt), HOUSING metal or contamination from ALUMINUM COMPLEX GREASE; Lead is at a MINOR LEVEL; LEAD in AUTO/POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSIONS may be a leaching affect from the CLUTCH PACKS. Cadmium is at a MINOR LEVEL; Silver source is most likely from torrington needle bearing cage.
Anybody know why Aluminum would be used in a TWIN DISC tranny....seems like an awfully soft metal for " bushings/thrust metal"....what's a torrington needle bearing cage....
We will be calling the lab but would like a little background first.....
