Transmission shifter adjustment

My STB transmission shifter has always required a heavy hand when operating it. Today I removed the cable at the transmission and made a small change in how it was routed right before the transmission. It made a huge improvement in its operating, but the reverse lever throw distance is considerably different. I am not sure how it was before. Thoughts?

Takeoff the cover at the helm you should be able to adjust it with some adjusting screws.
