This is sad, I knew Tom from his days as a designer working on Submarines at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. My roommate bought his old silver Jag. After EB, he started his own yacht design firm. Most of us probably know him from his zainy "Spectator" articles in Power and Motoryacht. He was a character through and through. He will be missed.

Here's a toast to you Tom. 'Now bring me that horizon...

Very sad, I always felt that Tom was a kindred spirit. We grew up in the same area and hung around boatyards as kids always knowing that we wanted to work and love boats. His spectator columns were the best!
Just yesterday it occured to me that he has been very quiet.
What a loss to the Boating community! RIP Tom.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Fexas, I'm curious to know something from someone who has.
I've been aboard many Mikelson's (there's lots of them in San Diego) and the designs suggest that the designer was vertically challenged (shorter than a pregnant woman's temper), as I had to stoop to walk under the bridge overhang, even on 60' sportfishers.
Is this true? It would explain a lot about the design choices.
