I have searched and got some familiarity from the posts here on the HOF but I'm not sure whats
the next step for me. I have a 1985 45C and the symptoms on the Mansfield # 848 are that there is a small puddle of water in the bowel and when I pull out the switch to turn on the diaphragm pump there is no sound or pump activity. The last person who used the toilet was a little kid who "maybe" sent down a moistened towlette. When I
depress the foot pedal, the ball valve at the bottom opens and I can see that the water puddle goes to the bottom.

I first checked the breaker panel, then I manually moved the diaphragm pump and it doesn't seem to be frozen. Next I emptied the holding tank at a pump out station. Then I plungered the bowl and
attempted to send a wire coat hanger down the bowl. I am still left at square one.

Thank you for any assistance,

Greg.

Greg,

It it a vacuflush system? If it is then disconnect the lines going into and out of the diaphragm pump in the engine room. There will be either 2 or 4 "duck bills". More than likely they got plugged with the towelette or something else[/U]. It will be dirty and smelly but if you make sure they are not plugged and put back properly that may fix your problem. It should not take more than 20-30 minuted to fix if that is what it is.

If you don't have the manual just go on-line and google "how to unclog a vacuflush toilet".

Wear rubber gloves and have a roll of paper towels and a garbage bag close by.

Good Luck

If the pump is not starting you could check the wires coming off the pump that may attach to a electric "bus bar" within a foot or two of the pump. One of the wires may have come lose or broken off.

Try the easy stuff first--it may not be pumping since a plug between the head and accumulator is holding a hard vacuum.

Step on the pedal and try a plumber's helper while the valve is open. Mine had a sharp 90 elbow about 6" below the toilet that would clog first (before I removed it).

Once again HOF is right on. Thank you for the ideas. The bus bar next to the pump wa "original" in every sense of the word. The power supply wire coming into the bar was corroded at the screw head. My Vacuflush rides again. Esp Thank you Lake of the Woods.
