Tips and Tricks for new members

Here's a tip from BIll Root hidden in another thread for RACOR fuel filters:

".... be sure to clean the assembly INSIDE the RACOR filter bowl. Often algae will collect under the float ball. The boat will run fine until you run into rough weather, then the rocking of the boat dislodges the algae plug, it pushes the float ball up and shuts off the fuel supply. I had this problem and it drove me nuts until I found a good mechanic who really knew where to look. It's a simple procedure that you can do in about half an hour and costs exactly nothing. Here's what to do:

Remove the RACOR bowl, unscrew the plastic assembly inside and look down into the collar where the metal ball sits. Turn it upside down, let the ball fall out, then tap the assembly on a flat surface. If an algae plug falls out, you've avoided a problem..."
