  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
On my 1981 53 my my port throttle seized up
I disconnected the cables one by one and put them back if they were not seized
I found a cable seized at the synchroniser and also on the port engine l have uncoupled this cable at both ends
Am l right In assuming this is the same red cable
Since l disconnected this cable the throttles are not working together on the flybridge and the lower helm station
Anyone have an explanation
Presumably the flybridge cables and the lower helm cables are somewhere joined because there only appears to be one cable connected to the starboard throttles

You should have two cables going to each motor. One from the fly bridge and one from the lower helm. If one is removed from the lower helm the fly bridge should still operate. The only place they are tied together is at the motor.

I have a Glendinning synchroniser Rusty There seems to be a cable going from there to the port engine
making 2 cables to the port engine The starboard engine only has ever had one cabl There are however cables going from the throttles to the synchroniser

Ah you didn’t mention that sorry.

Clutch cables can either go daisy chained down from the fly-bridge, lower helm then engine, OR Fly-bridge and helm clutch cables go directly to there clutch. Two cables to each clutch.

The throttles WITH Glendinning synchronizer can be near the same but the slave engine governor gets one cable from the syncro box.
I don't ever recall witnessing separate fly-bridge and helm slave throttle cables coming together on the Glendinning box and assume at least these are daisy chained between stations.

If you need cables, I've got a whole set out of my 53' from when I did the repower. I save everything. Its a curse.
