  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I had to replace the port engine saloon throttle cable in my 53
Since l replaced the cable the idle is now 1100 rpm
I have tried to get the rpm down though adjusting the stops in the saloon and flybridge throttle levers and by adjusting the cable end fittings
Any ideas as l cannot see how the rpm has changed

if you disconnect the cable from the throttle lever does the lever return to the idle position.

Surprisingly with both cables that is fly bridge and salon disconnected at the engine the idle is 1100 rpm
I have not touched any adjustments on the engine

Call a mechanic. With a Detroit that's either a governor problem or the rack is sticking.

Check where the spring attaches to the lever. Make sure the lever is not caught. It has a strange pivot mechanism that can get out of alignment. Hard to explain but wiggle everything around and it will jump back into the correct position.

Scarlett a you were right about jiggling the lever on the engine .
Problem solved
