Yes it is bad, but not suprising.

At the risk of being put in "time-out".....I will not get Political.... Guess I can now sell my fishing gear and guns at the same time if this sort of lunacy continues in Washington...

Didn't all your guns fall overboard?

Maybe we should legislate the injustice of the big fish eating the little fish. Don't get caught with any mouse traps either.

Unreal. Wonder what the legal tangled language will read that prohibits 'fishing', etc. Bet that will be tortured. Who will enforce? USCG, DNR?

Oh, well, Forrest Gump is a big POTUS fan anyway (Hanks).

The issue around here anyway is fishery management.

This is not a new issue nor is it in any particular way tied to the current administration. We've had a fight for as long as I can remember on quota differences between commercial and recreational fishers, who gets how many tons of what, size and bag limits and seasonal closures.

It's just more of the same - there are "X" fish and "Y" people who want to eat them, and Y > X. Resolution of this issue is guaranteed to piss of some of "Y" no matter how you do it but crashing the fish population means that many fewer "Y"s get to eat "X" in short order, so there IS a resource management issue that needs to be considered.

I'll leave my personal political feelings out of this so I don't have to ban myself :D

NOT TRUE BAN ME IF YOU MUST BUT NOT TRUE.

I am not a marine biologist I just played one for years in college.

There are plenty of fish and plenty of people looking to eat them BUT not all of them here. Since we can not control the polluting of waters outside our area we can not control populations elsewhere. We can prevent commercial fisherman from exporting fish and we can prevent foreign boats from fishing our waters. Americans are not big fish eaters and the stocks around us would be more than ample if we just used it for our people and allowed sport fishing with reasonable rules.

Hope and Change? More like change to hopeless!
