They May Be Made of Gold

Has anyone of you gentlemen bought a V-Retainer Coupling recently? The coupling is used to tie together or retain the turbo flange to the exhaust elbow. In my case the latching mechanism corroded and broke. It was made by Voss Industries Part No. 7131E-525-7. I called them and they just faxed me a price for two at $467.39 and for ten a price of $1,197.80. They must be made out of Gold. I was shocked at the price and delivery of 9 to 11 weeks. Unless I find a more reasonable price I may have to re-engineer the one that broke. Any alternate suggestions will be appreciated.

Holy crap!

What engines are these on? The Monmon clamps (same basic deal) on the 6V92s are ~$25.00 each and must be replaced when disconnected - and I thought THAT was outrageous!

Try Marine Exhaust in Riviera Beach - they may have a better deal or a better source.....

Did you call Sams? They have surprised me in the past with either the right part at a reasonable price or at least another source for the part. Probably worth a call anyway.

Someone got the numbers wrong! It is a 5 inch Marmon or V band clamp. I just bought 2 from Marine Exhaust @ 20.00 each. Call 561 848 1238. Also get some Silkolene sealant. Dave

The retainer coupling is on DD 8V71TI. I did Email Sam's for availability yesterday but no reply as yet. Thanks again.
