  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
42' CONVERTIBLE (1971 - 1978)
With the sale of my 42c two months ago I'm ready to begin the search for my next boat. I'll be going to the boat show next week so on my way home I want to start looking for a place to keep it. The ideal area for me would be anywhere from Port Canaveral to somewhere around Stuart. The boat will be at least a 55c. A place that allows winter season live aboard will be a requirement and dog friendly. If there was a pool that would be a bonus. All suggestions are appreciated, let me know where you have been, what you liked about the facilities. Eventually I would like to be able to spend some of the winter in the bahamas so a good jump off point is good too.

Thanks for the input,
Walt Hoover

If you fish FtPierce is the best option. Good alweather inlet. haul out and service facilities here too.

Mariner Cay in Stuart in the pocket. Land access within a gated community. Pool...liveaboards permitted....nearby restaurants etc etc. However, limited availability and annual renters preferred.

The train horns are kinda loud in there.

Good dogs belong up on the bridge! If you figure out how to make that happen on a convertible, I wanna know how.

60 hatt enclosed bridge with inside spiral staircase.

Well the dog is a frenchie, if I showed a picture of how to do it, it would have to be in the morning funny! I don't fish so getting to the fishing grounds is not on the criteria. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming, I'll make a list and be looking at these next weekend and probably take a night around Canaveral before heading the rest of the way north.

Between Ft Lauderdale and Port St Lucie the sportfish community is minimal, VERY few marinas here can haul out a vessel that size. Live aboard is a nightmare down here, I am dealing with it right now, costs are astronomical and opportunities are quickly diminishing. Hell, 7 marinas in Ft Lauderdale laughed at me because I was under 75', that was the smallest of the mega yacht yards that laughed. 2 of the largest marinas are currently shut down for major renovations.
