  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
63' COCKPIT MY (1985 - 1987)
Just a shout out to Scott Bickwid (boatsb) for his continued product support. I bought a Victron inverter/charger from him 18 months or so back and he has always been there to hold my hand! I had yet another question and once again he came through in a couple of minutes with an answer. Thanks, man!

I'll second the "adda-boy" for Scott's support to this forum and it's members. A valued member indeed!

And I'll 3rd it. He talked to me for an hour a few months back regarding electrical upgrades with very little if any sales pitch--just very helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks again Scott!

scott has helped me out several times with electrical and electronics, stuff that i didn't even buy from him

Ditto that. Scott has helped me with quite a number of things electrical and electronic as well. Definitely an asset to th forum.

And I'm not just saying that because I owe him money. ;)

Add my name to the list of satisfied customers. He's always helped me with any issues. You don't get customer service like that from any online vendor.

Same here last call was for help sometimes we do call just to B.S

I don't know what is happening but Scott...I swear....I never told anybody how many times you have failed to follow through on promises....going on two years!!
I'm guessing you were too busy satisfhing all of these other posters!

I'm not traveling so I've been helping remotely. I don't want to risk getting sick.

I won't go south yet. It's not covid safe yet but I can ship and assist whenever possible.

Good for you Scott. Smart. We are right around the corner from getting vaccines into our arms so you’re smart to wait. Hope your doing well. This is a tough business environment.

I am north of Palm Beach area. Service providers here in the marine industry are swamped and getting necessary parts and qualified assistance is like plucking chicken teeth. Covid 19 is irrelevant seemingly to everyone we encounter within the boating community primarily because of maturity and a willingness to maintain distance.
Scott...respectfully...you " came south" in December a few times to work on a boat and came to my boat for an assessment. You undertook to return after Xmas and completion of another project. That didn't happen.
Please understand. I am not disparaging your work. I can't. I have no knowledge on the subject. I don't doubt the sincerity of those posting here as to THEIR very positive experiences. However, the fact is that over 2 years have passed since you undertook to install what you described as a very simple system display on my boat. Covid was irrelevant to the failure to follow through. All I asked was that you tell me if you could not/ would not be able to do the job. I even asked if you could recommend someone else. All I ever heard was; "Soon....soon".
I apologize for raining on the confetti but " in vino; veritas".

Other than fulfilling some contractual obligations I've been staying close to home. Health concerns are a major part of that decision. I have family members who are very high risk and I won't take chances. For me to work outside my home area is unrealistic at this time.

I'm sorry if you feel that way. Then again you flew in and out of Canada with no concerns so I understand your not realizing how many of us are living through this pandemic.

If you need to vent more please feel free to bash me on my Facebook and Twitter Pages.

I guess everyone must evaluate their own risk in these times. I don't want to get political, but I generally feel that each individual should have the right to make their own choices regarding the virus and their exposure.

While I don’t entirely disagree, the problem is that people who do not use safe medically approved protocols put others at risk. The science of atomization is pretty clear. Those that choose not to follow safe practice are to an extent taking away the choice from those that do.

Safe medically approved protocols? Science of atomization? Lol i was on the OSHA advisory board when they promulgated the BBP blood borne pathogens regulations which defined universal precautions for protecting health care and biohazardous waste generators and handlers. Want to know why OSHA the ladder safety people got involved? Because CDC is a political joke. The AMA and AHA are so far up their butts they put cost consideration over safety. These are the same people that say to use universal precautions mask eye protection gowns foot covers to treat a person with an infectious disease but hey, if you want to have sex with them all you need is a condom. Yeah believe the science!

If you were living in the middle of a farm field by yourself.... yes.

Humans live in a social setting. This brings benefits, and responsibilities. Partaking in measures to minimize the risk to the herd is one of those responsibilities. It's not whether YOU get it, it's whether or not you are a link in the exponential growth chain. A LOT of people have died needlessly over the last year because a LOT of people chose not to "participate". We could have done better. That's not politics, that's science.

Along those lines......For all of the 34 years I worked in the cockpit of an airliner "they" were able to keep OSHA out. The FAA claimed jurisdiction and did..... nothing. Management maintained there was "nothing to see here" I shudder to think about the air quality and radiation exposure I've endured. 7 miles closer to the sun, and if I can taste the jet fuel in the air you know it's bad. Ever step on an airliner when the door opens after having been closed for 14 hours? No, because by the time you get there it's been (mostly) aired out and sprayed with agent orange. But even the Union knew not to bring up the subject as the ensuing war would leave few survivors.

We won't be discussing this at all shortly. Four weeks after your first dose of any of these vaccines and you are essentially immune and can go back to your normal routine.

Well, there is science to atomization, and the protocols of wearing a mask have been proven to reduce spread, so........ I’m not looking for a fight, but my wife is a nurse at a big Boston hospital and we have pretty steady interaction with many highly skilled doctors and virologists. Science is science. I’m all for personal choice, but not when it threatens my safety.

Until next time.......
