  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
The reason I ask is I broke my davit winch. I got the new part put in and broke another part. Long story short, the Whaler sat in the water for a month and the growth was crazy. I got it scraped off but I would rather loose a little speed then have that problem again. So, what kind of bottom paint do you use?

Our whaler is left in the water (fresh) all the time since we don't have a davit. It is painted with Bottomkote. I just pull it a couple times a season take it to a car wash and wash it off. Don't know how this would work in saltwater though.

You would want a ablative or one that can stay out of the water for long periods with out losing its antifouling abilities. There are many good ones out there.

Just a thought but why not the same paint you use on the boat. If it works for one.....
