  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I know this is a long shot but. I need two teaser reels. I would like to have them aluminum. If any one has any and would like to sell trade or what not please let me know.

Tim

Are you going electric?

There used to be a company that made an aluminum plate that you could use to mount two Penn 49 reels as teasers. Not sure if they're still available, but it was an inexpensive alternative.

Tim -- Have your tried Sport Teaser? Had a pair, they were good, dealt with the owner who was a great guy and I think he is located close to your area. You will be MUCH happier with a set of Miya Epoch's US 9 electrics. Expensive yes but for bait & switch invaluable. You remember seeing them on SPELLBOUND?

Did you ever pull a double or triple umbrella mullet dredge with the Sport Teaser? It seems like a lot of weight to reel by hand.

Miyas are good, Daiwa is worth a look as well.

Never pulled dredges with the Sport Teaser ---- Don't think you could wind in the mullet dredges....Toooo much drag. A spreader bar would probably work but still would provide plenty of pull for you. Almost all the boats in Costa Rica pulling dredges (single, double & triple tier) are using the Lindgren-Pitman S1200 spooled with 400lb mono. You see a few LP motors mated to 80-130 Tiagras or Penns and a very few Kristal electrics (both deep drop rigs). The 1200's at $4500per rig represents some serious $!

I've got to see your boat someday! Many of the South Fla tourney boats run twin Miyas up top, it is a great setup. The Kristals are to slow. The S1200 with the wishbone is awesome and the changeable spools are a nice feature. You've got to do a lot of deep dropping to justify a pair of those.

Come on down to Provo (Turks & Caicos) end of May or early-mid June take a look and do some marlin fishing. Tim did last year with his family and had a great time. One more tournament in Costa Rica (mid April), then back to Florida, pack boat with supplies/gear and start the trek West Coast FL, thru Bahamas ending up at Provo sometime early May ----- weather providing. Provo is very user friendly and has a great fishery in the lee of the island. Way to old to get "beaten to death" by those S.E. tradewinds like we did for many years. Any wonder why I like the Pacific?

Yes i remember very well there was a used pair in Palm Beach at a tackle shop. I should have purchased them the day i saw them the next day there was a sold sign lost out again. I have not tried sport teaser but will look them up. I have some second thoughts about electric it is the wiring being exposed purely cosmedic . I hear there is a big flea market comming up in florida got some guys looking for me. Them things you got are about 4 gran for the pair new I thinking...Tim

I spent two wonderful days on it with daughter and her husband and one day with my wife. Toby is a grate host and big smile to go with it ENJOY!!! I have worried him time to time about fishing questions and so far he has replied frankely quite quickely. Again thanks Toby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
