  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
50' MOTOR YACHT (1964 - 1968)
Hello All,
Just learning how to post messages and attach photos, all new to me... and with no instructions.... has been trial & error. Please let me know if I'm doing something incorrect with it.
Anyway, for the last several months I have been reading everyone's posts & looking at all the photos in my quest for info on the restoration project I have undertaken with the former "Lorelei IV" now "Lady Beatrice". I must say, this forum is very informative and it's members very helpful to each other.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here and becoming a more active member.
Thank you,
Pettigrewr

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the group. A really great asset.

Welcome. 90% of what I learned about these boats I learned on this forum. There is no equal. Good luck with the project. And yes, we love pictures. If you have trouble doing that I can pm (private message) my phone # and I'll talk you through it.

same here and good luck with your adventure

Thank you all for the welcome and for the offers of assistance with postings/pictures.

I like that boat. If I was 10 years younger I may have taken a run at her. The last 2 owners were active here on the forum. You will likely find posts if you search. I looked at her in Ft Myers maybe 10 years ago when she was for sale by her owner - 2 or 3 owners ago. I love the no bridge profile of that model. Good luck with her.

Thank you.

Update on the Lady Beatrice (formerly the Lorelei IV)

The boat has been in a Mississippi boatyard on the hard for the last two months.

During the 8 day delivery run from Indiantown, Fl. to Biloxi, Ms. the boat took on an excessive amount of water from leaking shafts & rudders glands, and a hidden open seacock from a removed watermaker. Of course, all but one bilge pump crapped out during the trip.

Did I mention the holding tank/treatment system leaking under the master stateroom starboard bed.

And a fuel return line sprung a leak (30 gallons/hour into the bilge for several hours until the delivery captain found it.

So with that mess and 55 years of detroit diesels squirting oil, you can imagine what a mess of sludge the boatyard has been dealing with in the bilges.

The bilges had been emptied & cleaned = nearly white again.
Shaft glands repacked, rudder glands tightened.
Seacocks closed.
running gear sandblasted and new zincs installed.
getting ready to install five 4700 GPH bilge pumps with high level alarms and add a dry-bilge system.
Then a sea trial.

If it passes the no-sinking test, then onto Louisiana for a full and total systems and interior restoration.

After the sea-trial, I will begin posting all the before & after pictures as work progresses.

Rob

I hope I don't find out she only wants me for my money!

Welcome. Great people on this site. I've talked with several of them and learned so much useful information.

I'm a recent member here on the forum and soon to be a new owner as well (hopefully). If the survey goes well, we'll have ourselves a 58LRC by the end of the month!

Congratulations on the upcoming purchase.
And I agree, this is the best forum I have encountered for Hatteras owners.

Welcome to the addiction. She will take all the money you throw at her, and still come back for more. But we love em.

Thank you for the signature tip. I was wondering why only my user name was showing up when I did posts. I kept going into my profile settings but did not know to go into the signature settings. Still getting the hang of online forums/chats/etc. Again thanks.
