Tachometer Replacement

One of my tachometers decided it had enough spinning and so it quit. It is mounted on the Hydreco oil Pump which is driven off the blower drive gear ( I think). My question is can I replace the tachometer unit without removing the Hydreco pump? The engine is DD 8V71TI on Hatteras 53 MY.

Have you determined whether it is the cable, the sender or the tach gauge?

It is the tachometer unit itself.
