Tachometer Drive Adapter

Thanks to Yachtsmanbill, I have the picture below to illustrate what I would like to find.



Basically, I need to split the tachometer output off the back of the 453's into two, one for the Glendenning synchronizer and another for the electric tachometers signal generators.

Any suggestions as to a source and part number? From the 2010 post it is mentioned that Detroit Diesel makes a unit for $250/ea. in 2010 dollars. Something more competitive would be great and a part number for the DD unit would also be helpful.

I was just able to get one of those for$35.00 from Acadian Transmission. It was used but it works just fine. They were great to deal with, just make sure you are very clear on shipping instructions they messed up the shipping on 2 parts that I ordered from them, but otherwise they were great. John

Glendinning still has them.

Fort Lauderdale Speedometer and Compass will make one up for you. They have the housings and put the guts in depending on the direction and ratio required. I think mine was about $100.

Your Glendinning should have a spot for the tach generator. You should not need a T adaptor.

This was my experience as well. The cable went right to the Glendinning, which in turn had a place for the generator. Give Glendinning a call, they will sort it out for you. Maybe your boat has something different going on.
