Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
See the storm is supposed to get close to S. Fla this week.

Know we here in Jacksonville are being hit by a nasty NorEaster right now but Noel is supposed to go East before getting here...

I thought we were out of the woods as of this afternoon, and I went about planning for an outing later this week after taking a big sigh of relief. BUT THEN.....I just checked the update and at this point, it's on track to get very close to Miami.

And to top it off, in the midst of installing piling caps, the marina moved my satellite dish from the top of the piling, to the side of the piling, so I need to re-point it. Until then, no TV for news updates. I got internet and radio though. It's already blowing horribly here - not from Noel though, I don't think. I've had to bring the cushions in and add two extra heavy lines to the aft cleats. I can't get to the dish without loosening the lines that are holding the boat in order to get the boat close enough to the piling to mess with the dish, and I'm NOT letting any lines go now!

Charlie, have you noticed that insurance policies now include the term "Nor'easter" as part of the windstorm provisions, in addition to named and numbered storms, when specifying the increased deductibles for storms or when excluding coverage?

Charlie, those sites should never be served to someone like me who has the tendency to become terrified at weather containing massive amounts of wind....without John's Bloody Mary recipe. I'm never going to get that, am I? LOL

See what happens when I get angry LOL

the only time you even want to watch TV for hurricane info is during the storm to see fouls standing in 100kts winds...

before... the web is all you need. Local stations only want people to watch so they dramaztize everything.

the 11 is out... :

AT 1100 AM EDT...1500Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM NOEL WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 21.1 NORTH...LONGITUDE 77.4 WEST OR ABOUT 40
MILES... 60 KM...EAST-SOUTHEAST OF CAMAGUEY CUBA AND ABOUT 270 MILES ...435 KM...SOUTH OF NASSAU IN THE NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS.

NOEL IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 12 MPH...19 KM/HR. A GRADUAL
TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF NOEL IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN INLAND OVER CUBA TODAY AND TONIGHT...BUT EMERGE OFF THE NORTHERN COAST OF CUBA BY TOMORROW.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 45 MPH...75 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24
HOURS.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 175 MILES...280
KM...MAINLY TO THE EAST FROM THE CENTER.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1001 MB...29.56 INCHES.

it's still moving west :-( but being on the coast it's getting slightly weaker. it has a short window to intensify before shear kicks in tomorrow so... no much to worry about...

Well the noon revision shows Noel heading further East of you than it did yesterday.... :}

It's coming right at us!! Run for the hills! We are in the "cone"! That is courtesy of our local "blood and guts" TV station.

I must apologize for this storm. Since my wedding in May of 2005, every time the T-Time is set to enter the water, some type of weather system rears its ugly head. It must be some type of penalty! Again, I apologize profusely! :)

Ya'll better run for Chicago and get a load of hickory. You can serve BBQ to all the survivors. I'm sure you know that northern hickory produces sweeter smoke. TAKE COVER!! ws

Ang"

John sent out a snail mail to you today...... I love what he's telling you about the bloody mary mix.... and I can't wait to hear your reply to him...

I probably won't have it in time for my "Girls Day Out" on Friday. :( Pascal is going with us (somebody's gotta drive the boat!), and he's bringing the Hatt Cam to ride on Sanctuary all day!

As for TS Noel, it feels like he's here already! I have no idea what the winds are because my wind thingie isn't registering - just says "0". It's been very windy the last few days, but it's really windy now with bands of heavy rain on and off. I was coming over the causeway and actually saw a wall of rainfall coming at me. When I ran into it, I had no visibility - scared the crap out of me! It was one of those all of the sudden things and I was not expecting that kind of rainfall all at once...and it's raining sideways. It was the strangest things...looked like waves crashing over the Rickenbacker causeway, but that wasn't possible because its a very tall fixed bridge that sailboats can go under, but still it LOOKED like waves crashing over it. Scarey to be driving a car in that. And....Noel isn't here! However, I must admit that my cage is easily rattled when it comes to bad weather.

Fowey Rock, about 10nm from here is reporting 37 gusting 41kts...

it's been windy for the past couple of days because of a high north of us but now with noel approaching the gradient is getting deeper...

I drove south on A1A and turned to go west on Las olas at 8:50 AM .... it's blowing pretty good. Sand on the roads (A1A) .... lots of whitecaps in the water. Not a day to go for a swim or an ocean boatride .. that's for d__n sure !

I heard on the radio this morning that waves at the beach were in the 10-foot range. With every update I see at NHC, the cone keeps moving just a little further away from us. :D

This morning I walked off the boat and something was odd...the wheels for my gangway were completely gone, not just worn away or broken, completely GONE, bolts and all, without a trace of any of it. My first thought was, "Wow, what a blow - blew the caster wheels right off the gangway!" I think the boat got blown out a little too far over night and they got sheered off at the concrete edge when the boat came back into place. Another unplanned to-do item on my agenda for today. :(

Looks like you in S. Fla have escaped another potentally bad storm.... Lets just hope Noel is the last for the year.... This will make 2 years in a row without a hurricane hitting the state....
ALMOST makes up for 2005

The only damage I had to fix was my boarding ramp, and I had to fix it pronto since it's the only way on and off the boat. If these wheels get sheered off again, I'm putting tractor tires on it! :D
