  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' MOTOR YACHT-Series I (1981 - 1984)
My son has found a 44 Viking MY that he likes and needs recommendations for hull and DD671 surveys in New jersey. Any recommendations?

Karl, how would you expect a good 671 TIB to behave in your 30 sec compression test in winter weather? Will it even start with out preheating?

Scan NAMS and SAMS on google (marine surveyor members) and get copies of sample reports from the surveyors you are considering. Report will tell you how thorough they are.
Engine surveyor may be a tough find but 6-71 TIB's are only good for 800 hours if you baby them. Terrible motor. De-tune it to 450. Call Jim Stitz 410-791-9399. Jim was the service manager for J & T now does surveys and light repairs. Great Guy.
If it does not work out I have a 44 with a cockpit (factory 50) for $200 +/-
Boat is above average but not a rock star.

Bob, I'll call you tomorow. There are a few good guys right here that I could recommend.

Bill Gross 609-561-5254. Man is thorough as heck and knows his boats.
I can send you a copy of my last survey for insurance if you like to compare quality of work. Send me a PM if interested
