Survey Thoughts - Hatteras 48 LRC

Hi All:

I'm in the process of purchasing a Hatteras 48 LRC currently in Annapolis
(Eldridge C as listed on YW).

Vessel looks to be in good condition but would appreciate any thoughts regarding items to look for during the survey.

I've engaged Mr. Randy Renn to do the hull and engine surveys.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Not familiar with that surveyor. Is he a Detroit Diesel mechanic?

There are two very good Detroit guys in this area, Tom Hugg and Frank Butt. I'd use one of them, but also, look up information on this site about issues and engine survey tips. See Genesis posts on cold start tests.

Thanks for the comments. Randy Renn comes recommended on this board and is qualified to survey both hull and engines. He has had quite a bit of experience with Detroits.

I haven't been able to get a hold of Mr. Hug yet. Still trying to see if he is available.

Tom Hugg can be hard to reach and communicate with. Frank is just back from vacation. I saw him at the club today and he is backed up.
