Does anyone have suggestions for redoing non-skid? What experiences have people had with various techniques and specific products. ( I am completely redoing a 1964 41' DCMY). Thanks, Ken

hello
I have available white aluminum oxide grain ....we make grinding wheel and I own a hatteras and have redone
a lot of nonskid....46 grit -seems coarse but is good in area where you want that 60 grit med coarsness
80 --fine .....
sand what you have ....tape off ....roll down your paint
shake from a coffee can with top with holes like a salt shaker....dont try to big an area without help...if you have thin spots youcan add more the next coat....
usually takes2-4 coats over the non skid to get the look you want....
Use the awlgrip I was talking about in the previous post, and after the first coat or two, mix in non-skid compound with the next two coats. Throughly mix, and roll it on an area that is taped off. Use the brush only to fan out areas that seem to have too much non-skid and to pop any bubbles. Good Luck
I redid the decks on my 1965 50'MY with Interlux two part paint and added the non skid formulated for it. It was easy to use, but if you don't put in the flattening agent, the surface is too slick.
A good system, though, tha's pretty easy to use and reasonable in cost.
