This weekend I saw a string of very stupid people, no I was not looking in a mirror.

Return trip to marina on another members boat when we passed oncomming boats, all small runabouts all were overloaded and all had kids hanging feet in the water from the bow rail. One took the cake. Guy was a human bow pulpit. Had a rope tied across the bow cleats. Had his fee on the bow eye and leaning forward over the water face down with hands behind his back holding on to the rope. mukinforons

Scott you were already pulling into your slip when we saw this.

We saw the Darwin award candidates on the bow rider with their feet in the water but not the ones hanging on the ropes. Too bad you didn't have a camera. That would be a great picture of what not to do.

This string of 3 boats went by after you pulled in. There were others before that.

The guy had his legs locked strait he was fully extended over the water. Yes this was idle zone but still the DF behind the wheel would most likely not stop in time.

The same dumb boaters are up here too. In NJ there is a $280 fine for hanging any extremities over the side of a moving vessel. Found this out when I was in traffic court once. Lots of dumb boaters in court paying that fine.

Saturday sat at the dock in the manasquan river watching the coast stopping every jetski and a ton of boats. They were really drawing the line up here. They even pulled a few of them to the docks I supose whatever was wrong they said get it off the water. With all the boat trafic it was nice seeing them trying to stop them from all the stupid stunts. Bill

This is real issue up here in Canada. An even bigger problem is that our Coast Guard does not do enforcement -- it's an RCMP responsibility and they have limited resources on the water.

A kid got killed up here recently by hanging his legs over the bow of the boat. The boat hit a wake, and the kid (early 20's) got bent double, pulling him over the bow. It took several days for authorities to recover the body.

Police take boaters to the dock to administer DUI test. I can only think of one boater who could walk on the water so the rest have to go to the dock.

I suppose it really shouldn't surprise us to see these boneheads on the water. I drive 30 mi to and from work each day and see the same people driving cars. Today alone I saw a woman putting on her eye makeup, ( she actually crossed the centerline twice in about 3 miles ) a guy reading the newspaper and another one texting. All any of them need to get on the water is the down payment on a S.R. or some other high quality vessel.

several years ago was on way back from atlanta to orlando on I75. There was a man in a toyota camry reading a book while driving. He was alone in the car. This guy would constantly leave the road, drift to other lanes. real hazzard , I followed at safe distance and tried to get Ga Patrol on the phone with no success.
