In June, we will be taking the boat over to the bahamas. Our plan is to take the boat thru the Okachobee waterway to Stuart the week before and leave the boat there for the week before we leave.

I have been doing some calling around, and I can't seem to find a Marina that can commit under $2.75 a foot per day. There are a few marinas that are $2 a foot, but wont have any knoledge of slips avaliable untill a month before.

Those of you who know the area, or who have done the trip, can you give me a suggestion of a marina. Someone Suggested Ft. Pierce municipal marina, but that seems a little stupid since it is further away.

I called the Marriot on Hutchenson Island and they were $2.75

Pat,

Have you looked at "Marina Pal" where you can go to various marinas' websites in designated areas of any state? I saw that Stuart Cay Marina has transient rates at $1.50/foot.

There are a lot of other marinas listed along the coast as well. The websites don't mention availability, but if you find a location at a price you like, then call and ask.

If you're leaving your boat, you don't need the marina services and power that you're paying for. You'd save lots by finding a mooring or even anchoring out and leave your dinghy at a marina. People that are going to Nassau may get cheap moorings at John Pennekamp State Park (farther south in line with Nassau) or city operated moorings. Some of the nice protected mooring spots have lots of cruisers moored and anchored waiting for a good weather window to make the run to the Bahamas. When the weather is right, they all leave the same morning.

There is a city anchorage in Stuart by the Roosevelt Bridge., st lucie waterway. believe they have a web site. they were damaged in 2004 Hurricanes so I dont know status. try them out. We just moved from Riverwatch marina, not sure if they have their transient dock completed yet but you may want to contact them. Owner is Bill.
