  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
A friend is considering a Strke Boat. Strike was a spinoff of Striker many years ago and builds smaller boats in fiberglass. Their original vessels were a 26 and a 29. Anyone know anything about quality ?
thanks

Strike is a fairly well-built semi-custom boat builder right here in Dania, FL. They don't make a lot of boats and a friend of mine who does marine maintenance had a customer who ordered up a new (for them) 46' express. I would have sold that thing after about the first 3 mos. of empty promises, I think. The problem is they were using this customer for R&D, basically. They clearly didn't know how it was going to perform with a given set of engines, gears, props, etc. Everything they projected was way off -- to the point where the boat wouldn't even plane on the first sea trial. BUT, this customer actually ordered up another boat from them, so maybe you can't judge a book by its cover. They must be making up for the disappointments with some kind of great service or something.

In short, you can consider them but I'd make sure they've perfected at least 5 or 6 of a given model before I'd even dream of buying one. We take for granted the performance numbers we're quoted by Hatt because they're a production manufacturer who gets all the R&D done before we ever see a boat.

My friend is looking at a 29, which is a model that they have made for many years.

It,s a pretty boat, but very wet!!
