have a 1967 34c with dual stations. there is a transfer lever on lower helm to switch steering from upper to lower station. Upper station is Hydraulic and lower is teleflex. The controll cable for the lever works but the mechanisem on the tiller is frozen.

Do any of you have experience with this and can parts be obtained? I am at a disadvantage as boat in Stuart FL and I am in Orlando.

Steve, When I bought my 34C, the cable to switch to the lower station was also frozen. I climbed in there and disassembled the steering gear and then lubed it all with white grease. That got it working again. Don't understand about upper station being hydraulic and lower being cable. When my cable broke and I had to go to hydraulic, it was done to both stations.

Steve got your email and now saw this post I have never seen hydraulic and mechanical mixed. The mechanical would have to force the piston to move which would blow it. If you what the lower helm to work you should add another helm pump. Also this way you get rid of that old cable and lever.
Good Luck Dan

steering cable works fine. it it the transfer mechanism that is not working.

When these boats were made the steering systems were completely independent. there 2 cams over one rudder post and a lever between them attached to the rudder post. there is a teleflex that pushes and pulls the lever that locks the rudder post to either cam. I am interested in finding the parts on the end of the teleflex cable that opperates the lever.
