Hatteras Model
48' YACHT FISHERMAN (1972 - 1975)
Hello,

Does anyone know the steering ram size for a 1972 48 Yachtfish? I'm trying to get the specs to choose the correct autopilot pump size for my new to me 48 Yachtfish.

Unfortunately I can't get to the vessel until winter subsides in a few months and the photos I have don't have the model number in them (at least not that I can decipher.)

I believe it is all the factory Hynautic system. Images below.

Any help appreciated, Thanks!

I'm going to SWAG that a K3. I recall near 23ci of fluid.
PM me your e-mail address and I can send you the PDF page to help further ID this ram.

Suggested AP pump size?

I'm thinking Type 3 pump. What is the best location to tap into the steering lines? Before the reaorvoir or after?

Thanks!

I installed a type 3 pump on my 42c. I installed T's into the three lines coming down from the fly bridge. I also installed ball valves on these T's for servicing. High pressure flexible lines then connected to the pump.
