Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
I Cruise at 27-28 knots so I may not get an answer to my question as not to many 45's have this kind of speed. I get quite a lot of spray in the pit and the bridge when at cruise. a friend told me the other day that some of the new Hatts actually have a reverse spoiler on the hard top to either remove or reduce the station wagon effect. Any suggestions appreciated.

My 46C has a very bad station wagon effect. Not too bad with the wind on the beam or from behind, wind from the bow and I have to remove my sunglasses or they will be salted by the time I get to the bridge.

It does it at 18 kts or 25 kts speed does not seem to matter. I have seen the reverse foils and never got a good answer as to how well they work.

We get fumes in the cockpit bad when we are sailfishing in the wintertime. trolling into the wind is the problem. when we turn down wind with a following sea there is nothing. You would think the wind would push the exhaust into the cockpit then. It seems its worse when its cold. Of course thats when the sails bite.
I was on the Hatterascal a few years ago when Terry Stansel was running the boat and it had the spoiler deal. He said it was pretty effective. I seem to remember he also said that they were having a pulsing effect on the bridge which it stopped. that was on the new 60c. My neighbor has a 60 GT Tournament edition its a sweet boat.
