state room conversion

Hi All.. I'm trying to convert one of my staterooms to a double birth configuration and was wondering if anyone has already done this and if so witch stateroom and how. I'm in a 1971, 41' C. I have seen pics somewhere in the past with a double birth in the mast stateroom, but that would render the aft head door inop. If anyone has any ideas, please let me here them. The wife is tired of doing the I Love Lucy thing. Thanks, Mark

We have a 38' with the twin beds over the fuel tanks. We removed half of the double dresser and extended one twin over to that point, making it a full/queen. The other twin has been converted to a large locker/closet.

Not much walk way between bed and closet but it works.

Under the bed we have drawers for more storage.

saw your pics, nice job. my job looks to be about the same amount of work, with either stateroom. just kinda thought you guys would have a more direct plan, already thought out kinda thing going around.

I had a 1969 41C that had the Hatteras factory queen in the master. It went athwartship (port to stb) and was against the bulkhead and away from the head door and entrance door. I cannot remember if the doors are different on the standard over-under birth arrangment. I know Hatt made very few with the queen masters. Of course the queen was really a double sized matress.

The bunk then had six draws under it. It was a great arrangment. I do not have any pictures but if you search yachtworld enough you should run into one. I saw a few over the years that where re-done. None where as good as the factory version, but they could have been with a little more effort.
