Was surfing the internet the other night and stumbled upon a 1983 53 ED for sale. Name of the boat was Paper Moon and the owner did an absolutely beautiful job with maintenance and upgrades! So many things done both on the interior and exterior of the boat and IMHO all done really well!

One thing stood out. They replaced all the window glass in the boat from aluminum frames to polished stainless steel. Looks beautiful!!!

Any idea where they may have gone for that work? Aren't many marine glass companies in this area of the Great Lakes and my pilothouse windows are fogging up and frames are starting to fade and leak.

Just curious.

Forget the stainless, fiberglass window frames are the way to go.

Depending on the condition of your window frames you could always paint them.

Agree about fiberglass. Also, as the owner of a 1983 53 ED, Paper Moon is beautiful but the price they are asking is extremely high. One always needs to remember that everything you spend on upgrades for a 35 year-old boat will not be returned. Good luck at $347,850. It might be the nicest '83 53 ED in the country, but I think I'll keep mine.

I'm sure they look nice, but if I were attempting that, I'd go with fiberglass frames, too.

Where I DID use SS was some interior floor trim and hatch framing. Worked out nicely.

Has anyone made them in fiberglass or know where someone may have made them?

Should add to that......

Made them in fiberglass for the curved pilothouse windows?

Call Broaddus Rose 252-723-2222, boatwindowframes.com

He did my salon windows. Will have him do my windows up front next year. Outstanding product.

Rusty: There is a tan bar to the left of this window. Follow it up, up, up, up... and read what it says. :-)

ps See my posting about dummy dome; do you know anyone interested in Antioch?
