I am having a problem with spiders and spider poop, that stuff is like ink! My friend Big Bill aka large william (member here) has the same problem. Bill has a hat on his Hatt, he has a covered slip behind his house. I thought the cover was the cause of his problem. Our slip is not covered and we still have them all over. This is an outside problem not an inside one. We get the little black poop dots that stain and are hell to clean off. Any ideas?????

Starbrite's Non-Skid Deck Wash will dissolve the spider droppings like magic. I've often found it at Wal-Mart for considerably less that the boat stores. I've also heard that Mean Green will do the same ... just remember to rinse well and don't let it sit on the finish long.

Spray the spiders with home defence. Get yourself some MEAN GREEN from the dollar store $5.50 per gallon. Spray it on the spider drops. They will just run off. Then rinse the area. Don't waste your money on anything else. When you rinse the dot will look like a yellow spot. Don't worry it just goes away. I have never seen anything work so well.

We used to have lots of spiders all the time. They live on our marina docks. Then I got "Home Defense" and use it every 4 months or so. I spray every inch of holes, corners and crevices of the exterior hull and then all around the baseboards and in the nooks and crannies inside, except the galley where I only do the floor corners. About 2/3 of a big jug (1 gallon I think) does the boat (53MY). No more spiders! :D The first time you do it, you'll come back after a day or two and see them hanging on web strings dead, like they got sick, tried to escape into clean air and died. Yee-Hah!

I spent one summer under a covered slip in Maryland and the boat would be covered with spider droppings all the time. The marina even paid a professional exterminator every so often to spray them but that never worked for long. No more covered slips for me. Ron

I find I have fewer spiders when I am not in covered slip. I strongly echo the earlier comments of using Home Defense!! It works as Doug says - GREAT!! Sure reduces the daily mop/wipe chores.

I've gotta try this Home Defense. I have been going on spider hunts just after dark with a flashlight in one hand and bottle of Spider Kill II in the other. It works, but then you have spray residue all over the boat that you have to wash off in the morning. Some people in the marina think I'm crazy, I'm sure. What is this guy doing climbing all over his boat with a flashlight? :D

We aren't in a covered slip but we had a big problem with spiders until we were told to spray the docks AND the lines (at dusk) instead of spaying the boat. I don't remember which product we used (they're probably all the same anyways). We rarely have any on board anymore!!

Bruce.
