Eight 8D's? Don't you have a 32v system on that 61? 8d's are huge 12v batts. I thought the 61 would need eight 8v195's. Maybe I'm wrong or you have converted your system to 12 or 24 volts.

NO , I need (8) 8D 12volt AGMs for my inverter system. Lifeline prices are crazy. I was hoping to find someone who had a wholesale acc't or connection to get them at a more reasonable price. The cheapest I've seen was 585.00 /batt + shipping.............Pat

Wow, how many amp/hours does that provide? That's a huge inverter bank. Have you thought about going with smaller, lighter batteries for easier installation? It may take more to fill those boxes, but it might actually even be cheaper than the 8D's.

This is a 220 v system . Two 4kw inverters combine to make 220v and feed the std Hatt panel. So 8 kw continuous,16 kw surge and total amp/hrs is 960 at 24 v . Basically we anchor all the time and have found that we have to run the gen to cook am and pm and that keeps the banks in the proper range . It runs everything on the boat seamlessly. We do not run high load stuff such as a/c ,stove , oven from it as it takes too long to recharge to be worthwhile.........as far as using more smaller batts; more connections ,less available amp/hrs for the given space as far as I can see. The Lifelines have lasted 5 plus years and were abused before I bought the boat . I think I can get 7-10 years from them the way we use it ..............Pat

Sounds like a great system. The last time I bought gel cells, I ordered them through my Napa rep. His price was better than anyone else I found. Get the specs off of those Lifelines and call Napa, maybe they could find the same thing but with that Napa sticker on it.

prices are all over the place... if the batteries are not in living spaces you can use flooded batteries, in that case Golf cart batteries are the way to go.

Best price i found was from a golf cart guy i used before. I just ordered 16 of them for a 70 footer i run... owner wants a full day autonomy and that's going to give us 880AH at 24 volts... $89 a piece, delivered, plus $11 core charge. Exide is now charging core, normally $20 a piece but was able to get a deal.

I've seen them advertised at $150+...

it comes down to $1600 for the 880 AH bank at 24v. hard to beat.

on my boat the bank of 8 E3600 is going on 4 years, so far so good.

I'd love to able to do it that way but 4 of those 8d's are under my aft stateromm bed. Access for maintenance is tough and although the batt box is supposedly sealed and vented it still allows odors out. Sealed GC batts AGM style are only about 600 .00 less than the 8Ds although it would make this a more manageable problem for me to handle next time ..........Pat

880 AH @24V = 176AH @ 120V

How much does refrigeration, eg: galley fridge, bar fridge, ice maker consume in average 24 hr period in Florida?
