Hi, I'm looking for a good source for custom (or the odd-shaped) bunk mattresses in the front state room on my 1983 53' ED. I've searched threads on this site, but I don't have the skills to make my own! Thanks. Jon

On our last boat we purchased a 4" or 6" king memory foam mattress topper from wally world and had it cut (at an upholstery shop). Turned out great, cheap and very comfortable. You could even have the upholstery shop make a cover for it.

I cut out a piece of cardboard to give them the correct shape. They used my template to cut the shape.

Google Mattress insider. They make everything and free shipping.

Just had all my mattresses replaced by Michigan Discount Mattress. They have both standard and custom mattresses for all kinds of applications. I think the guy over there is Mike.

For the forward berth I gave him the old mattresses, he made a paper pattern and sent it to the manufacturer in Tennessee. We bought the higher end mattresses where each one is multi-layer foam of varying thickness and durometer. They did an excellent job!

I think we paid around $700.00 each for the forward berth mattresses.

They're dreamy!!!

Bob Bradley, a fellow HOF member, is in the custom marine mattress business. You should look him up.

Zeno mattress has made every one of ours on board and at 3 different times. Better than a 5 star hotel. Worth every penny, and were not cheap.

Hi Jon. I tried to respond to your request, but for some reason I could not get the email to go through yesterday. I'd be happy to try to help you, but I limit my range to RI, CT, and NY, as I do all my own measuring, delivery, and installation. Call me if you wish. I work the mattress through my business, the Beacon Falls Pharmacy. 203-729-4567.

(Start with Bob Bradley, but if you can’t make that work for distance reasons or otherwise, I suggest the below.)

Handcraft Mattress Company who are at practically every boat show, and has capability to make hinged innerspring which is more complex than foam but not cheap

Online at www.boatbeds.com

They once told me confidentially that they were OEM to Hatteras.
