Me and a friend of mine had an '81 50' under contract, another friend (big Bill) told us about this site. We have gotten a wealth of information from here. The Hatt that we wanted did not pass survey we ended up looking at alot of other Hatts but ended up getting an '86 48' Viking. My question is, will we be kicked off of the island. We do not have a Viking owners forum, so can I play in your sandbox?

Of course you are welcome here, we will of course continue to comment upon the error of your ways, LOL Viking makes a good boat. You will of course get to experience first hand the peculiar engineering that is Viking. Their new stuff looks real good. I have been on a couple of Vikings. I, happen to like the 54 Bertram enough to overlook some of their stupid decisions and could force myself to live them.

I have several 1911 .45 ACP pistols, I love to shoot them, my sidearm of choice during my military career. I did buy a compact Glock for a carry gun. I do not like to shoot it, it is a good gun. But it will never be a 1911, no matter how many they sell, or how popular it becomes. I am sure that most of my buddies have Glocks too, but we do not talk about! LOL

A sidearm is a small personal weapon typically worn on the body, first it was daggers and swords, later pistols. I also carried an assualt weapon or weapons, usually a CAR-15 or an FN/FAL and a short barreled pump shotgun (Ithica 37) along with my "sidearm". LOL

I used to pick at my first team Sergeant and accuse him of joining the army when were still issuing the "Broad" Sword as the basic infantry weapon. LOL

Thanks guys, speaking of guns, the Viking was in Slidell LA. When we got it back to Biloxi we had to repair about 5 spots in the fiberglass. Our glass guy Joey was grinding out a small hole above the waterline. We saw a shiny spot, I dug at it with a knife and out popped a slug . Withen thirty minuites we had the old name off of the transom. Thank yall again....

Welcome to the Hatteras forum...we have several folks on here who are not Hatteras owners, some own similar designs by Jack Hargrave, one owns a Hatteras and a Chris-Craft. I used to own a Bertram. I suspect some of the ships' systems are the same from Hatteras to Viking. Anyway, welcome aboard. Maybe there'll even be some stuff from Sam's that fits your boat....
