Size matters

New neighbors with a 45 Carver aft cabin docked next to my 43DC.
Hatteras is much bigger, including the aft deck. It does have me beat by 3 ft. On the swim platform.

Not surprising. New boats count the swim platform and anchor pulpit in the length nowadays. The difference between length and LOA has become mostly meaningless. I was slipped next to a 62' offshore at Lamb's and the thing was maybe 2' longer than my 53', if that. I'm not complaining, all those new boats are paying more in dockage, insurance, divers, and everything else than we are with boats that measure the actual length.

My boat is a 46 but identifies as a 40. Fuel bill tells the truth.
