We have a 1965 DCMY. I have removed, overhauled and re-bedded the main saloon windows/frames twice during the 25 years we have owned her. It is not time to stop this foolishness and install fixed glass in a way that will last without leaks.
I have talked to Jimmy Watts about a couple of times about various approaches to installing fixed windows. Unfortunately the '65 model has curved window openings that prevent installation of outside mounted flanged frames. It also has considerable "tumble home" along the length of the aft window openings (at least my boat does).
Jimmy and I continue to try and concoct an optimum installation method that will both be reliable and preserve the classic look of the boat.
I would like to hear from others who have performed fixed glass conversions on these older 41s regarding what they did, how they did it and how it has worked out.
