Shower head pics? I didn't see a shower head in your post.

Are you calling the exhaust piece a shower head? If so, why?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Thanks for posting pics. Appreciate any info on 3208 maintenance/repair.

That is what that exhaust component is normally called due to the holes around the perimeter which is where the raw water is sprayed into the hot exhaust stream which then exits from the boat via the exhaust outlets. If you were able to see it in operation, it would look just like one of those adjustable bathroom shower heads with the outer ring "selected" for the spray. The component undoubtedly has a technical name but "showerhead" is the only thing I have ever heard it called! ;)

Thank you very much for the explanation! I understand now.

I love to learn new things!

Cheers

That can be repaired , if not it can be cut off entirely and replaced with a new showerhead . ....Pat

Thanks Pat. When I got it cleaned up this morning it looks good. I'll post a picture tonight. I think it's original, never been off. The part where the holes are is not a round one piece unit, it looks like four short pieces welded together and that is where the gaps are. I thought the gaps were corroded chunks that had broken off. It looks like the day it was built. Gotta love stainless.

Wow, that is one convoluted thing. Nothing like mine, but our 36s are different. Would like to see an installed pic.

Exactly

I'm sure once you replace them your overheating problem will be fixed. Thanks for sharing those are great photos.

Help me understand how this is the problem with over heating. I don't see plugged up holes or am I looking at this wrong? Was there a restriction somewhere else?

Is there any way to prevent the holes from blocking? Run Ospho through the system periodically?

Bobk

I was wondering if spent engine zincs were plugging things up.

I pulled ours shortly after buying the boat. There were chunks of "gravel" that obstructed some of the holes. I never did figure out whether it was zinc chunks or something else. Not sure what "something else" could even be...

When I had mine off I found pieces of rubber impeller blocking several of the holes. They were easily pulled out with needlenose pliers.

I thought some of the things I pulled out could have been pieces of impeller but I couldn't figure out how they could get there. On our 8V71TIs, impeller pieces would have to go first through the intercoolers and then through the Heat exchanger. The pieces would have to be so small to do that they would have easily just gone through the shower head holes and out the exhaust.

Here's what it looks like cleaned up. And what it looks like on. Small rock or something similar in one hole. Just crud in the others. Used muratic acid to clean it up. The holes I thought were rotten and broke off turned out to be spaces between the four small pieces used to form the round circle ( the circle has the holes in it). I thought it would be a round circle that had the holes but it is four pieces welded together to form the round ring. Hope that makes sense. One other thing, is the exhaust alarm still available from SAMs or will I have to get a different kind. I broke it off. Murphy's law.

If I am looking at this the right way?
Your 36 doesn't have a bulkhead between the engines and cockpit?

Those 2 pic are of the port engine and the one were the exhaust is off is the starboard I'm working on.
