Shower drain screen

So after making a mess in the master shower fixing the AC condensate drain, I was spraying it down. The water drains pretty slowly. My wife has been telling this for a while but as usual I wasn’t listening. Under closer examination there is a lot of hair and soap scum built up.
My question is if the drain screen comes off?

There are a series of round holes but one slot in the center as if the drain screen screws off. The PO may have attempted to do so as it looks a bit screwed up. Do these screens come off?

John, I just tried to unscrew mine with no luck. Same results trying to pop it out. If I where you I’d send a snake up from the sump and pull out what’s stuck. If you find a way to remove them let me know.

Plug the drain hose at the sump end and add some draino. When done really rinse it well getting it all out of the sump rapidly.

Solved the issue with this 9.00 item from Amazon. A little tedious pulling out the hair through the little holes but it works great.
