The 12v battery charger, an old Century, was accidentally turned off for who knows how long...long enough that the 12v electronics on the dash no longer worked. I flip the circuit break on and it's humming, pretty loudly...like I can sear it from the salon and its in the engine room. Not deafening, barely audible from the salon. Seems to be providing output as the depth sounder that would not work before is now working fine. Is this normal?

Oh yeah. I have the original Sentry charger in my 1965 50' MY. It hums when it's really working.

I just figured that mine was so old it forgot the words so had to hum....ok, ok,I'll stop now.

K :)

Since your battery was low, the charger is probably outputting to the max. As your battery gets charged it should quiet down. Ron

Yes, it has indeed quieted down. :)
