My salon reverse cycle heats and cools well and has for the last 5 years. I noticed tonight that once it's satisfied and the air handler shuts down the compresser kicks on and off a few times before stopping completely. Once it calls for more ac it's starts and runs fine. Then the short cycle symptom starts and stops again. Anyone had the same symptoms before?

Did I miss something? Is water discharging from the pump. I sucked up an eel one time and prevented the water pumps impeller from turning. You will get short cycling that way fast. I just removed the eel and reinstalled the impeller and it worked fine. It took me a while to figure out where that long black rubbery thing came from. I first thought I blew a gasket somewhere. Silly huh?

I had the same problem with my master a/c. It turned out to be a failed trigger relay in the sea water pump relay control box. I have one sea water pump cooling 3 compressors. I installed a toggle switch to override the trigger relays, which solved the problem. The toggle switch and wire was less than $30. A new trigger relay is around $60. I saved a few bucks and simplified the system. Now the sea water pump runs continuously when the toggle switch is on. Keeping the pump on continuously will also increase the life of the pump. The only downside is you have to manually switch on/off the toggle switch before operating the a/c. I located the toggle switch next to the a/c controls in the salon.
